- Microsoft says that North Koreans are using advanced tools with AI to hide their identities
- Workers are hired by US companies and then steal their sensitive files
- The United States government is taking energetic measures in campaigns
North Korea computer pirates, scamming their way in high -profile technology companies based in the US, have recently warned their efforts, security experts warned.
In a recent analysis, Microsoft urged its peers to implement research measures prior to jobs strictly employment and create policies to block unimailed IT management tools.
A more detailed analysis of the United States government discovered that these people were working on stealing money for the North Korean government, which then uses it to finance its government apparatus and its weapons
Arresting the suspects
The United States has imposed rigid sanctions to North Korea that, among other things, prevent US companies from hiring North Korean citizens.
As a result, adversaries have been creating false characters and using all kinds of tools (including VPNs), to hide their true identities and location, and thus increase their possibilities of being hired.
Lately, they have increased their efforts and have begun to use software that changes the voice and documents improved with AI to increase their credibility.
They have also managed to use a person who lives in New Jersey, who opened Shell companies to deceive the victims to think they were paying a local business. That same person supposedly also helped his companions abroad be hired.
But the concert seems to be updated, since the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) arrested and accused an American citizen named Zhenxing “Danny” Wang to direct a scheme of “years”. The effort obtained more than $ 5 million. Eight other people were also accused: two Taiwanese and six Chinese citizens. Now everyone is accused of conspiring to commit electronic fraud, money laundering, identity theft, piracy and sanctions violations.
In addition to receiving payment for the work done (which ironically, according to Microsoft, it is often star), these people also have access to confidential data from the company. Sometimes they abuse this access by stealing the data and then extorting the company.
One of the largest and most destructive piracy groups in the world is the group sponsored by the state of Norte Lazarus, which brought thousands of dollars to the government through similar schemes. In fact, the entire operation even has a name: “Operation Dreamjob”.
