MIFTAH criticizes government economic policies

Karachi:

The leader of the Awam Pakistan party (app), Miftah Ismail, criticized the government’s economic policies on Saturday, saying that if the prime minister had reduced the budget deficit, the interest rate would have fallen into a single digit.

Going to a press conference at Karachi Press Club along with former MNA Salahuddin, Nasiruddin and others, Miftah said the new federal budget had lost the nation’s time while carrying the public even more.

He argued that the prime minister should have focused on the Prize of the National Finance Commission (NFC), adding that the World Bank reports a significant part of the population of Pakistan who lives below the poverty line, with two million young people who cannot find jobs every year. He condemned the imposition of taxes even in basic items in the new budget, qualifying it as “shameful.”

Referring to the recent tragic incident on Swat, where 18 impoverished individuals drowned, Miftah described him a moment of national reflection. He questioned whether such a tragedy would have happened if the victims had been affiliated with a political party.
