Hannah Montana is breaking her 15-year musical hiatus.
The (former) international teen pop sensation, played by Miley Cyrus, releases new music. Disney and Cyrus announced the news in a preview of the next Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Specialwhich will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on Tuesday, March 24.
“Let’s celebrate 20 years with special guests and the world premiere of a new song,” were the words that appeared on the trailer screen. And fans took notice immediately.
“Brand new! New! Song!” read a comment from Disneyradio.
“Hannah is back to topping the charts AGAIN,” one fan joked in the comments, while another raved: “A new Hannah song???? This is crazy.”
Disney announced on Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on Feb. 17, with a look back at the series with “never-before-seen footage” and an interview with Miley Cyrus, who rose to fame thanks to the hit 2000s show.
Reflecting on the show’s impact, the multi-time Grammy winner said in a statement: “Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a television show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I will always be grateful for that connection.”
The special will be presented by Call her dad Alex Cooper and filmed in front of a live audience.
Also appearing in the special will be Cyrus’ parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus (the latter starred in the series as Miley Stewart’s father and Hannah’s manager). He flowers The hitmaker recently revealed that Selena Gomez, who played Hannah’s nemesis Mikayla Marie, will also make a cameo.
