ISLAMABAD:
Planning Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday directed stakeholders to prepare templates and marketing packages, showcasing the profitable trade routes of Gwadar Deep Sea Port and potential incentives for international companies.
“These materials will be distributed through Pakistani embassies and missions across the world to promote Gwadar port on a global scale,” he said while presiding over a high-level meeting on operationalization of Gwadar port here, according to a press release.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Planning Commission, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Petroleum and other relevant departments. Embassy representatives participated in the debate via video link.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized the strategic importance of Gwadar port as one of the most valuable assets of Pakistan.
He highlighted that Gwadar provided the shortest trade route to the Gulf and Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and had immense potential to serve as a key regional transshipment hub.
