The All-Star game next week will look a little different from the past years.
The Midsummer Classic will be the first training game that is not spring to present the automatic ball and strike system (ABS), according to ESPN.
The system was a complete training in spring this year after several seasons in the minor leagues. The teams obtained two challenges for play, but could retain each challenge won. Only the batter, the pitcher or the receiver could challenge a call, and had to be immediately after the call without help from the bank or other players.

The system needed some adjustments at that time, but apparently, it has been done enough for Commissioner Rob Manfred to enter a proposal to the MLB Competition Committee to have the system in 2026, a goal I had in mind Last summer.
“I think that the equipment is really positive about the abdominals. You know, I have that non -scientific system that I use, my email traffic, and my clear impression is that the use of ABS in spring training has made people more prone to complain about the balls and the calls by email, for me, referring to the need for ABS. It is undoubtedly true, undoubtedly true,” said Manfred last month.
ESPN said that 72% of fans who were surveyed during spring training said their experience in ABS games was “positive”, compared to 10% of being negative.

In a new era with larger bases, shift restrictions and launch timers, this could be the biggest change of all, and would arrive at a fairly wild moment: a closure is coming with the MLB collective bargaining agreement in December of next year.
However, fans seem to like changes as assistance has increased in each of the last two years. It was the first time since 2011 and 2012 that attendance grew in consecutive seasons.

The star game will take place on Tuesday in Atlanta. Originally it was scheduled there in 2021, but moved to Coors Field after the approval of the State of the Electoral Integrity Law of 2021, which included new voter requirements.
