Atlanta’s brave starter Chris Sale, reached 2,500 strikeouts, faster than any pitcher in the history of the MLB, during the 9-3 team victory over the Philadelphia Philis on Thursday night at Citizen Bank Park.

Sale, 36, struck out the third base of the Phillies, Edmundo Sosa, with his Wipeout Signature slider to finish the sixth entrance.

The sale exceeded the 2,500 blows at 2,026 tickets, breaking the record of 2,107⅔ tickets established by Randy Johnson.

The sale launched six laundered tickets, produced only two hits and three walks and struck out eight batters in the victory.

The sale became the 40th pitcher in the history of the big leagues to reach 2,500 strikeouts, joining Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander and Max Scerzer as the only active pitchers that have reached that plateau.

The eight times All-Star won his first Cy Young race with the Braves last season while led the National League with 225 strikeouts.

Sale passed the first seven seasons of his career with the Chicago White Sox and was changed to Boston’s red socks. Sale was an integral part of the 2018 Red Sox team that won the World Series.

The sale spent six seasons with the red socks before the Braves changed before the start of the 2024 season.

The Philis and Braves played a double game and divided it. The Philis won the first game, 5-4, before the Braves recovered behind the strong exit of Sale.

Los Bravos (26-29) begin a series of three games with the red socks (27-31) on Friday at 7:15 pm et. The Philis (36-20) begin a series of three games against the Milwaukee Breweers (29-28) on Friday at 6:45 pm et.
