The New York Mets star, Edwin Díaz, suffered an important injury in the 2023 world baseball classic, but that will not prevent him from playing in the 2026 edition of the International Tournament.
Díaz, 31, was injured while celebrating the victory of the Puerto Rico team over the Dominican Republic. The patellar tendon on his right knee was torn and the whole season was lost.

“I didn’t hurt the launch,” Diaz said through the New York Post last week. “That is something that can happen in my house or anywhere. If I were throwing, maybe I would be a bit scared (return).”

Díaz did not completely pledged to play for Puerto Rico, but said he is open to it.
“From now on, I would play if I had the opportunity to play. I would play to represent my country,” said Díaz.
