Referee Hunter Wendelstedt was hit in the head by a missing ball during the seventh entry of the New York Mets-Minnesota game on Wednesday.
Wendelstedt, 53, was driving the first base when Tyrone Taylor cut a line in the bad territory. He tried to get out of the way, but the ball hit him on the side of the head.
Wendelstedt immediately fell, and the coach of the first Mets base, Antoan Richardson, said the twin bench for medical care. The athletic coaches of the twins attended him while he lay on the ground.

Wendelstedt remained depressed for approximately one minute or two, and then helped him stand up and left the field with the help of the athletics coaches of the twins while he was retaining a towel at his head.
After Wendelstedt left the field, the game resumed with only three referees.
“I’m not sure I have seen that happens,” said Mets announcer Gary Cohen.

Taylor ended the third base to the ground once the at-at resumed.
Wendelstedt is the son of Harry Wendelstedt Jr., who took advantage of 33 seasons, from 1966 to 1998.
Hunter Wendelstedt has been arbitration of the MLB games since 1998 and has incorporated a game of stars (2011) and a world series (2014).

The Wednesday game between the Mets and the Twins is the last in a series of three games. The Mets won 5-1 on Monday, and the twins won 6-3 on Tuesday to establish the rubber game.
At the time of this writing, the twins and the Mets are tied 3-3 at the bottom of the eighth entry.
