The Boston Red Sox star, Rafael Devers, stirred some feathers when he seemed resistant to renounce the third base to Alex Bregman, whose defensive metrics make him the best man for the position, when spring training began.

Cora told journalists on Wednesday that Devers “probably not” would get a game in the third base before spring training comes to an end.
In turn, Devers is likely to go to the opening day as the full -time batter for Boston.

Devers initially said he had a conversation with Brass’s team and expressed his desire not to be in that role.
“The third base is my position,” Devers said through his interpreter last month. “That’s what I have played. I don’t know what his plans are. I know we had a conversation. I made clear what my wishes were, and yes, whatever happens from here, I don’t know.”
While it cannot be denied that Devers trusts all their baseball skills, something that the red socks surely love in their piece of cornerstone, had a more focused response to the equipment after their initial comments became viral.

“I am good to do what they want to do,” Devers told journalists later in spring training. “I am here to help. I’ve already talked about that, and they know where I’m standing. I’m ready to play.”
Devers is a three times in the third star base, but its metrics, except six outputs above the average compared to Bregman’s six outs, were never the best. He said he practiced hard in the position, but when Bregman signed, it seemed that the designated batter was where Devers would move.
However, the first Triston Casas base added fuel to Devers’s comments, saying that he believes that the third base is the place of devers to claim, and Bregman should play the second base, which was open for a replacement.

But the red socks have clearly shown their mentality in the 2025 campaign, one in which they are expected to do the postseason after not doing it in 2024, with Bregman playing the third base during the spring.
Bregman, in addition, has not yet seen repetitions in the second base.
