In December, the Chicago White Sox exchanged the pitcher Garrett Croct to the Boston’s red socks. Shortly after joining the red socks, crochet made it clear that he was looking for a long -term contract extension of his new team.
The request raised some eyebrows, considering that the white stockings were not successful in their attempts to move crochet before the commercial deadline last July. Crochet was also in a ticket restriction last season, but managed to launch 146 tickets in 2024.
It is projected that crochet takes the mound for the red socks on the opening day next month. As April approaches, the 25 -year -old is sharing some details about what led him to be described as a “greedy” player.

“I know when it came out, many people were watching [at it] As greedy, “crochet said during an appearance in” baseball is not boring “in reference to the demands of its contracts that are made public.

Crochet explained that his impulse for an extension focused around him moving from a reliever to a full -time holder.
“I did not feel in any way that I demanded it because I wanted money or security for itself. It was more in the fact that I was establishing me as a starter and moving away from the idea that the teams saw me as a high -end relief potential.”

Crochet left the bullpen 54 times in 2021 when I was with the white socks. A total of 18 times in 2020, 2022 and 2023 was deployed as reliever due to injuries.
Crochet went from the bullpen to the initial rotation last season, making 32 openings and ending the year with an effectiveness of 3.58. Crochet recognized the important role that his health played last season.

“I was having a good year and kept me healthy for the first time in my career,” he said. “In 2020, flexor tension. In ’21, I had the backing.
“Then I get out … now I’m starting with an established routine, and I feel good every fifth day. And I can go out and act. Why should I endanger that for a team to what I really don’t owe anything?”
Except for a contract extension, the crochet would be eligible to enter the free agents market after the 2026 season.
