Islamabad:
The National Committee of the Permanent Assembly of the Interior demanded on Friday an immediate information session of the Chief of Police of Sindh with respect to the murder of Mustafa Amir, since shocking revelations arose on the links of the case with drug trafficking, cryptocurrency and dark website.
By chairing the panel, Raja Khurram Nawaz insisted that an informative session on the case should be prioritized.
However, the interior of the additional secretary informed the panel that Inspector General (IG) Sindh had not appeared due to a delay in receiving the committee notice.
He requested that the informative session be scheduled for the next meeting. However, MNA Abdul Qadir Patel strongly criticized the absence of the IG, saying: “This is an extremely serious case, at least, the IG Sindh should have attended.”
The committee member, Agha Rafiullah, also revealed that a DSP had been shot twice in relation to the case, while raising concerns about the investigation. “The defendant has a relative in the research team.” He insisted that a case of this sensitivity should have already undergone serious and impartial consultations.
Nabeel Gabol added that federal agencies, including the ANF and the FIA, should have already taken measures.
Abdul Qadir Patel revealed that the authorities had recovered a call center and 62 laptops, along with evidence connected to cryptocurrency. He added that fraudulent bank accounts had been established and claimed that drugs were transported from Islamabad to Karachi using messaging services.
The case, he added, also involved transactions on the dark website and possible purchases of illegal weapons.
If this had happened in any other country, all agencies would have been mobilized for now, “Patel said, criticizing the inaction of the FIA and other federal authorities.
Meanwhile, the additional general director of the Wing of the cybercrime of the FIA Waqaruddin Syed assured the panel that the Sindh police were managing the case currently, and would investigate when it was sent to them.
Patel criticized the approach, questioning: “Are you waiting for the case to get to you? Is your work to initiate research, not wait for them to terrify at your door.”
Subsequently, the NA panel summoned Ig Sindh to appear in the next session for detailed information on the Mustafa Amir case.
In addition, the Interior Ministry has been addressed to initiate investigation through FIA and ANF to discover the total scope of the case and its possible links with organized crime.
Previously, the session began with members of the committee objecting the absence of the Minister of the Interior and the Interior Secretary.
In expressing his discontent, Mna Nabeel Gabol declared: “At least, the interior of the secretary should have been present.”
