Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met Sunday in Islamabad to discuss the “attitude” of Pakistan’s party Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) during recent opposition conversations governmental. The two leaders deliberated on matters of mutual interest and the general situation in the country, according to Pakistan radio.

Naqvi praised the efforts of the Sadiq speaker to foster dialogue between treasure banks and opposition. Both officials expressed satisfaction with the improvement of the country’s economic conditions. The couple also discussed government initiatives to solve public problems.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously blamed PTI for the failure of the negotiations, citing the breakdown in three sessions. However, he reiterated that the ruling party was still open to continuous conversations.

Meanwhile, the president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, rejected the offer of the Prime Minister for additional negotiations, claiming that the Government was responsible for the collapse of the conversations.

“We had filed only two demands: the liberation of political prisoners and the formation of judicial commissions for the events of November 9 and 26,” said Gohar. “The government closed the door to the conversations by not accepting these demands.”

The point of the dead between the government and the PTI continue, since both parties maintain contrasting views on the way forward.
