Referring to speculation that suggests that President Zardari has been asked to resign or that COAS is looking for presidency, the Interior Minister said: “There has been no discussion, nor such an idea exists.”
He stressed that the president maintains a “strong and respectful” relationship with the main leadership of the army and quoted President Zardari saying: “I know who is spreading these falsehoods, why they are doing it and who benefits from this propaganda.”
“The only COA approach is Pakistan’s strength and stability, nothing more,” reiterated the Interior Minister.

Naqvi linked those behind the alleged campaign with hostile foreign agencies, and promised that the government would take “any necessary action to strengthen Pakistan again, Inshallah.”
Naqvi made similar statements in Sukkur last week, telling journalists who do not believe in the rumors of social networks. “Some people are disturbed by our unit.”
He stressed that the alignment between the political leadership of Pakistan, the Army and the Government is the reason for the growing propagation of misinformation. “For the first time, politicians, government and military establishment are on the same page, and that bothers certain people.”
The Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) also issued a statement to rest to speculation about the possible elimination of President Zardari.
