Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 has no confirmed release date yet. However, with principal photography wrapping in March after a five-month shoot, the next installment of the series is in its post-production phase at this stage.
So when do we think the Apple TV Original will return with Godzilla? We believe a mid-2026 launch window is the most likely scenario. Hopefully we’ll have a definitive release date in the near future, and with Comic-Con Brazil (CCXP) 2025 right around the corner, an announcement could be made there.

No. However, once again, CCXP 2025 seems like a good place to release the first trailer for Season 2. When a trailer is released, we will update this section.

- Ren Watabe as Kentaro
- Joe Tippett as Tim
- Mari Yamamoto as Keiko Randa
- Takehiro Hira as Hiroshi Randa
- Dominique Tipper as Brenda Holland

One important character who may not return in season 2 is Lee Shaw. Played by father-son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell last season (the pair played Shaw in the present and the past respectively), the US Army colonel was an integral part of the season’s cast.
However, in the Season 1 finale, Shaw appeared to die after sacrificing himself to ensure Cate and company could escape. Sure, Shaw could have survived, but we won’t know if Kurt Russell is part of the process until season 2 premieres somewhere around the world. The best streaming services.
Unless Monarch Season 2’s story takes place in multiple periods in time, Wyatt Russell won’t be returning either. The same goes for Anders Holm, as the actor will only reprise his role as young Bill Randa in flashbacks that feature heavily throughout this season.
As for newcomers, the pros have only announced one new addition to the cast (admittedly, not officially). For variety, Amber Midthunder (Prey, Novocaine) is reportedly on board as Isabel, a character who will have a big recurring role in Season 2.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 Story Speculation
Full spoilers follow Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 1. Possible spoilers for season 2 are also discussed.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters The story summary of season 2 has not been revealed yet. However, based on what happened in the final episode of last season, we can try to figure out where things will go next.
This is his final warning: Major spoilers follow immediately. for Season 1 Episode 10, titled ‘Beyond Logic,’ so come back now if you haven’t seen it.
Season 1 ended with Lee, Keiko, May, and Cate on a mission to escape the Hollow Earth, with Lee seemingly sacrificing himself to allow the others to do so.
Returning in 2017, the trio breathes a sigh of relief. Well, until they realize that the nefarious tech corporation Apex Cybernetics, run by Brenda Holland, May’s evil boss, is responsible for helping them return home. Worse yet, Cate and Kentaro’s father, Hiroshi, as well as Kentaro and Tim, are working for them.
Interestingly, the place they return to is none other than Skull Island, also known as the home of the imposing ape known as Kong.
With this titan making a brief cameo in the final scene of season 1, it is possible Monarch Season 2 could focus on him more than Godzilla, especially since these two monsters have not met at this point in the Monster-Verse timeline. In fact, they do not intersect until 2021. Godzilla vs. Kong.
Also, at this point in the timeline, Godzilla is about to fight King Ghidorah in 2017. Godzilla: king of the monsters. Season 2, then, will be an interquel of sorts, and its story will likely take place between the aforementioned films.
If that’s the case, Kong and his future titan best friend will remain separated for the time being. Hopefully we’ll still get some sort of kaiju-on-kaiju action in, though. Monarch season 2.
Regarding the human cast of one of the best shows on Apple TV, it will be interesting to see how Cate, May and Keiko deal with the consequences of their trip to the Hollow Earth, Apex rescues them, and Kentaro, Hiroshi and Tim work together with Apex to rescue the others.
Then there’s the small matter of Keiko herself. She is Hiroshi’s mother and Cate and Kentaro’s grandmother, but she doesn’t look much older than either of them.
That’s because she was trapped in the Hollow Earth for decades, meaning she didn’t age the same way humans do on the surface. How will you cope with living in a world much more technologically advanced than the one you left in the 1960s? And how much time will Monarch: Legacy of Monsters spend exploring the strained relationship he will have with Hiroshi, as well as the bonds he will need or want to build with Cate and Kentaro?
There will surely be other narrative opportunities to develop the Monster-Verse, including Monarch season 2 serving as more connective tissue between king of monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong. Depending on what happens as part of this season’s story, Monster Legacy It will also lay the groundwork for other stories in this franchise. Speaking of which…

Like the movies that spawned the idea for a Monster-Verse TV show, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 could serve as a starting point for other stories in this franchise.
As the previous X/Twitter post revealed when the series was renewed last April, Apple revealed that it had reached a new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment, which included multiple spin-offs.
At the time, Morgan Wandell, head of international development at Apple TV, said: “We couldn’t be more excited that viewers will not only have the opportunity to experience even more thrills in season two, but to embark on epic new journeys in the franchise as we expand Legendary’s Monster-Verse.”
As for a third season of Monarch As such, there have been no murmurs that Apple and/or Legendary have given it the green light internally. As seems to be the case these days, a lot will depend on how much the show costs to make and its viewing figures. Until one or both companies publicly confirm whether season 3 is in development, we don’t know anything about MonarchThe return of your next entry.
