- Motorola reveals the Razr Fold
- 8.1-inch internal screen, with 6.6-inch cover display
- 5 cameras, including a 20MP internal front camera
Perhaps emboldened by the warm reception of its Razr Ultra, Motorola is expanding its lineup (both in number and physically) with an all-new Motorola Razr Fold.
Announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the Razr Fold takes Motorola into foldable tablet territory, but with its signature style and some photography tricks it learned from the impressive Razr Ultra. It’s also one of the largest foldables, with an 8.1-inch unfolded screen and a 6.6-inch cover screen.

There aren’t many details about those displays beyond size, although Motorola lists the large flexible display as LPTO, which should mean it will offer a variable refresh rate that could range from 1Hz to 120Hz, putting it on firm competitive footing against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7’s main display.
However, one area where the Motorola Razr Fold is already set to surpass the main competition is in creativity. The new device will support Moto Pen Ultra input and palm rejection. While Motorola didn’t confirm it, that would indicate a layer of digitization, something Samsung lost on its now ultra-thin Z Fold 7.
The cameras sound pretty impressive too. There are five in total, including a 50MP ultra-wide that also supports macro photography, a 50MP 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP wide-angle main camera.
Motorola also goes a little further on the remaining cameras. There’s a 20MP internal camera on the main screen (double what Samsung offers on the Z Fold 7) and a beefy 32MP selfie camera on the cover screen.
We were impressed with the Razr Ultra’s photography capabilities, so I’m expecting good things from these lenses. We know that the cameras will support Dolby Vision video capture.
Details on things like the processor, RAM, actual size, and weight are scarce after that (as long as the images show a relatively thin device). Motorola promises to provide more details, such as pricing, in the coming months.
There is some promising news on the software front, such as on-device AI, multitasking, adaptive interfaces, and useful features like “Catch Up.”
There will be a couple of Pantone-inspired color options: Blackened Blue and Lily White.
Still, we’ll have questions, like why the camera bump is so big (although we assume it’s to support all those high-megapixel cameras). And will the Razr Fold also feature the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite?
The good news is that we should get a closer look at the phone this week at CES.
