An improvised explosive device (FDI) detonated in the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Dr. Hamid Ur Rehman in the area of Bajaur in the Khar area at dawn on Thursday, causing significant damage to property but without loss of life, police confirmed.
The device, planted at the door of the legislator’s house near the Hospital of the District Headquarters (DHQ), exploded around 4.50 am
According to officials, Dr. Rehman, who also serves as president of the District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) of PK-19, was not present at that time.
Police sources said the powerful explosion destroyed the entrance door of the house. A police team arrived at the site shortly after and collected forensic evidence. Formal investigation has been launched.
In a statement to the media, Dr. Rehman expressed relief that no one was harmed. “Thank God, everyone is safe. The one who protects is greater than those who want to harm. Allah keeps us safe from such incidents,” he said.
He promised to continue his public service. “God wishes, I will continue working for peace and development in my area.”
Yesterday, it was announced that security forces will carry out intelligence -based operations (IBO) to eliminate militant threats in Bajaur while minimizing civil suffering, authorities said.
The meeting was convened in response to a recent wave of terrorist attacks in Bajaur that have charged multiple civil lives in the last two months.
The Jirga brought together senior government and police officers, military representatives, political figures of Baja, tribal elders and religious academics to discuss the deteriorated security situation in the region.
The meeting officials promised that Bajaur would be authorized by militancy to give way to long -term stability, prosperity and sustainable development.
The security forces assured that the next operations would be precise and promoted by intelligence to avoid unnecessary difficulties for the local population.
