Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Pakistan (MQM-P) movement has called an important meeting of the Rabita Committee to deliberate when sitting on opposition banks in the National Assembly.
In statements to the media in Parliament, the leader of MQM-P, Aminul Hoca, confirmed that the party had summoned the group to discuss the matter. “We have summoned a meeting of the central committee to decide whether to sit as independent or in opposition banks,” he said.
Haque, the former Federal Minister, also stressed that MQM-P had supported Shehbaz Sharif as prime minister in the hope that he would fulfill his commitments.
However, he lamented that the promises made to MQM-P, including the development packages of Sindh and Hyderabad, were not fulfilled.
“The Government of Shehbaz Sharif assured us of development projects for Karachi and Hyderabad, but a unique commitment has not been honored in the last 18 months,” said Haque, citing reservations ongoing on the Federal Government’s approach to the MQM-P.
He also said that the party would discuss its separation from the ruling coalition and the possibility of moving to opposition banks, since there has not been visible progress in development projects.
