Two children of Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam leader (JUI-F), Mufti Kifayatullah, were shot dead, while the cleric and his wife were seriously injured in an incident that allegedly involved one of his children in his residence in Batkhela, Malakand district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, said Express News on Saturday.
According to Levies officials, the incident occurred in the Barkhela Tehsil, where Mufti Kifayatullah’s son allegedly opened fire inside the family home. The attack left Mufti Kifayatullah and his wife critically injured, while two of his children, a son and a daughter, died on the spot.
Sources of Levies added that another son and daughter of the cleric were also seriously injured in the shooting and were transferred to a nearby hospital along with the deceased and other members of the injured family.

The rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and transported the bodies and injured by medical assistance.
The authorities confirmed that Mufti Kifayatullah was out of danger, although it remains under medical care. The alleged shooter, identified as his son, fled the scene after the attack.
According to reports, the sources revealed that the defendant was addicted to crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ‘ice’), which may have contributed to the violent episode.
Malakand Levies has released a human hunt for the suspect, and an investigation is being carried out.
