- Mullvad VPN has added Multihop to its Android application

As of today, on March 28, 2025, Mullvad has launched Multihop in its VPN Android application, promising to make online tracking more difficult to redirect its traffic on two different Wireguard servers.
An advanced popular security feature among the best VPN services, the new version adds to the Mullvad desktop and the existing multihop function of iOS apps and is now available in the Android 2025.1 or newer application versions.
Why use Mullvad Multihop?
“Enruption of your traffic through multiple servers in separate jurisdictions gives you a higher level of privacy and security, even if a server compromised,” Mullvad explains in an official announcement.
As the name implies, the Mullvad Multiop function allows you to redirect Wireguard traffic through two servers. This means that the input server, where its connection begins, will differ from the output server that reaches its final destination.
As the supplier says, this will create “a tunnel inside a tunnel.”
It has total control of its preferred entry and exit points between the list of more than 600 servers in 49 countries offered by the supplier, directly in the application configuration. Mullvad suggests choosing two servers in different jurisdictions if you want the tracking to be even more difficult.
“The adversaries would need to launch time attacks against traffic in multiple locations to analyze its online use,” explains the supplier.

You need Mullvad version 2025.1 or a new to benefit from the new Multihop functionalities.
Activating Multihop is simple. Address Settings and enable the Multiple Option by pressing the alternation.
Once activated, you can select your favorite entry and exit servers by addressing the Switch location tab in the main interface.
Multihop is also available within Mullvad and iOS desktop applications. This means that you can completely customize your privacy level regardless of what device you are using.
