Murree Hills ready for tourist image change

Rawalpindi:

Viability studies have been initiated to promote tourism in the Tehsils hill in Murree and Kotli Sattian, covering a series of ambitious projects that include two new chalings, the first glass bridge in the sky of Pakistan in Murree, a glamping pods village and a late generation theme park.

Studies, backed by an assignment of RS150 million, are expected to be completed within three months.

Kotli Sattian, recognized for his natural beauty, is also being designated as the Punjab tourism model. A lush but robust mountain cord of Panj Peer is planned, while another will be installed in a tourist place recently identified in Murree.

The proposed Sky Glass bridge for Murree will be the first of its kind in Pakistan, with a viability work already in progress. Modern jungle theme parks are also expected to both tehsils, and the private sector is expected to play a role in its development.

At present, Murree and Kotli Sattian house only a limited number of glamping pruning peoples; These now will be expanded and established in two or three additional sites. The boy scouts and girls’ guides are also involved in these initiatives.

Speaking to the media, As As Raza, managing director of the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation (TDCP), highlighted the extraordinary natural charm of the Two Hill Tehsils of the Rawalpindi Division. “Kotli Sattian is now our main approach. He is emerging as a new tourist destination, blessed with green forests, steep mountains, cascades and natural springs,” he said.
