The leaders of the key Arab nations and the members of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), who met Tuesday with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, have pressed for a high immediate fire in Gaza, the release of all hostages and a comprehensive reconstruction plan, according to a joint statement issued on Wednesday.
The summit, held outside the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, was convened in President Trump’s initiative. The joint statement issued by the key leaders of the Arab League and OIC thanked Trump for gathering the parties and highlighted the “unbearable situation” in Gaza, pointing out the humanitarian catastrophe, the heavy civil toll and the broader regional consequences. They rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians and asked for the return of those who fled during the conflict.
The leaders underlined the urgency of a high fire that would facilitate both humanitarian relief and the release of hostages.
They also assumed the responsibility for Washington’s leadership to guide a long -term peace process. “They reiterated their commitment to cooperate with President Trump, and emphasized the importance of their leadership to end war and open horizons for just and lasting peace,” said the statement.
The participants also presented their support behind the reform efforts of the Palestinian authority and emphasized the need for stability in the West Bank and the sacred sites of Jerusalem. They supported an Arab plan and directed by the IAC for reconstruction in Gaza, together with international security agreements and financing.
Trump was flanked by his superior team in Middle East, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of the Treasury and special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
The leaders agreed that the summit should serve as the beginning of a sustained process towards regional peace and cooperation.
The participants emphasized the need to guarantee a comprehensive plan for reconstruction in Gaza, based on the Arab and OIC Plan, as well as security agreements, with international assistance that supports Palestinian leadership, and expressed its commitment to work together to guarantee the success of the plans and to rebuild the life of the Palestinians in Gaza.
The participants also emphasized the importance of maintaining the impulse to ensure that this meeting is the beginning of a process on the right path towards a future of regional peace and cooperation.
Previously, the US media reported that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, presented his plan to end the Gaza War, releasing the remaining hostages and rehabilitating the strip under the government NO Hamas during a multilateral meeting with the leaders of eight Arab and Muslim countries.
Trump also promised that he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank, according to reports.
Parts of the plan presented by Trump at Tuesday’s meeting are based on a proposal created by former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair.
While the Blair Plan focuses on the management of Gaza of the postwar period, the plan presented by Trump also describes how the war itself would end, imagining a high fire of several weeks during which all the remaining 48 hostages would be released, said one of the Arab diplomats.
President Trump promised the Arab leaders that he would not let Israel annex the West Bank, Politic reported Wednesday, citing six people familiar with the matter.
Two people described Trump as a firm on the subject during their meeting outside the UN General Assembly, Politico said. Two others familiar with the matter, Politico reported, said the American team presented a white paper that describes the Trump administration plan to end the Gaza War, including the promise against the annexation of the West Bank.
Israel has drawn the global conviction for its military conduct in Gaza, which has caused an important destruction and where more than 65,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to local health authorities. A world hunger monitor says that part of the territory suffers from famine.
Speaking exclusively with the Express PAkGazette, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that the fire would soon be achieved in Gaza. He said he expected “there will be no more delay in reaching the stop the fire [in Gaza]”
Answering a question, the prime minister said that Pakistan’s relationships with the world had improved, emphasizing that greater progress would be visible in the next few days.
