LAHORE:
The mystery still covers the strange disappearance of a wheel that was in place when the plane of a Pia had taken off from Karachi but was missing when the plane landed at Lahore airport after about an hour and 45 minutes.
On Wednesday night, it was discovered that PK306 flight of Pia had landed at Lahore with one of its main missing landing wheels. Despite the missing wheel, the plane landed safely without incident.
A PIA spokesman said that the airline flight security department, in coordination with the CAA, has launched an investigation into the incident according to aviation regulations.
The exact cause will be determined after a final research report, but the initial evaluations suggest that the wheel may have been damaged by the remains of foreign objects (FOD) or an external factor on the Karachi track.
The sources said that after an alert of Lahore air traffic control (ATC), a part of the wheel set at Karachi airport was discovered. However, despite more than 14 hours of search, the missing wheel has not yet been located at Karachi or Lahore airports.
