The National Assembly (NA) on Friday retired three leaders from Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) of key parliamentary positions after the disqualification of several legislators of the party.
Omar Ayub was stripped of the position of the opposition leader, while Sartaj Gul lost his role as a parliamentary leader and Ahmad Chattha was eliminated as an attached parliamentary leader.
An anti -terrorism (ATC) Special Court in Faislabad, earlier this month, sentenced the main PTI leaders to 10 years in prison in cases related to the protests of May 9.
Ayub, leader of the opposition in the Senate Shibli Faraz, Sartaj Gul, MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza and former Sheikh Rashid Shafiq were among the 108 PTI leaders convicted of the 185 involved in cases, while another 77 were acquitted.
The camera assigned to the opposition leader was also withdrawn from the party. The speaker informed the Chamber of Disqualification of the members under the rules of the Assembly. The consultations are underway between the opposition and the speaker for the appointment of a new opposition leader,
It will be required that the independents supported by PTI present new nominations for the positions of parliamentary leader and attached parliamentary leader.
Ayub was also eliminated from the Public Accounts Committee and the Finance Committee.

Na also withdrew memberships from 15 permanent committees of seven legislators belonging to PTI, eliminating three high -level leaders of key positions.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza was stripped of the presidency of the Permanent Human Rights Committee, while Sartaj Gul lost his membership in the same committee. Rai Hassan Nawaz was withdrawn as president of the Permanent Railway Committee.
The changes follow the disqualification of several members of PTI by the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP).
The ATC had issued previous arrest orders for 50 PTI leaders in multiple cases related to the protest registered in several police stations in Islamabad before the planned protest of August 5 of the party. The arrest orders, issued by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, included prominent figures such as former President Arif Alvi, KP Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf, Murad Saeed and Ahmad Niazi.
The arrest orders for 41 PTI leaders were issued after another nine issued previously in relation to a case registered at the Karachi Company police station.
