Na session postponed due to the lack of quorum

Islamabad:

The National Assembly session was postponed without any procedure on Wednesday after the government did not comply with the quorum, after an objection raised by a PTI member.

The session, chaired by Vice President Ghulam Mustafa Shah, stopped shortly after the beginning when PTI Mna Iqbal Afidi pointed out the lack of quorum.

A 15 -minute break was announced to allow the government to gather the required number of members, but the assistance remained insufficient even after the break. The session was postponed until 11 am on Friday (today).

During the session, only 76 members of the ruling coalition were present in the Chamber. The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, was seen making efforts to bring more members, but several PPP legislators left the camera during the process. PPP MNA Agha Rafiullah supposedly pointed to his colleagues to leave the house, undermining the quorum.

Later, Chaudhry accused the PPP of deliberately sabotage the quorum despite the government’s efforts to fulfill the required numbers. PPP Ramesh Lal legislator was seen mocking the minister for his struggle to maintain assistance at home.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a written response during the session, informed the assembly that the passports of 50,000 people have been included in the blacklist at the request of FIA Baluchistan for trying to illegally enter Iran the European countries.

People on the blacklist were supposedly involved in illegal border crossings, falsification of passports, fraud and human smuggling. Affected people can appeal to eliminate their names from the blacklist when approaching the General Directorate of Passports through the standard procedure.

In the cybercrime, the Ministry of Interior declared that in 2024, the Wing of Cyber crimes of the FIA registered 13,722 consultations related to online fraud. A total of 832 cases were recorded, which led to the arrest of 1,212 individuals.
