The National Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution on Monday that expresses strong solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and condemning the continuous Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
The resolution, presented by Federal Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, urged the United Nations to take immediate measures to stop Israeli aggression and play an active role in the reconstruction of Gaza devastated by war. Legislators from all over the political spectrum participated in the debate, strongly denouncing Israeli actions and expressing their support for the Palestinian cause.
“This chamber demands that the brutalities committed by Israeli forces stop immediately,” said the resolution. “The house greets the 60,000 Palestinian martyrs and firmly condemns continuous bombings even after the announcement of a high fire. Israeli aggression is a failure of the international community.”
The resolution also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Israeli forces of the Palestinian territories.
Tantar, while heading to the house, said that Pakistan’s position on Israel is in line with the vision of the country’s founder, Quaid-E-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. “The Quaid had made it clear that Pakistan would not support the Zionist State, and the current government firmly remains on that principle,” he said.
He highlighted the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that more than 65,000 Palestinians have been martyred, with more than 100,000 serious injuries. “A new chapter of brutality in Palestine has been written, where innocent civilians have not been saved, including children, women and the elderly,” he said.
The law minister declared that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly raised the issue of Israeli oppression in all international forums. “The people of Palestine need the support of the global community now more than ever,” he emphasized.
He also drew parallels between situations in Gaza and Kashmir occupied by India, reiterating that both problems must be solved in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
“Our national position on Palestine is clear and consistent. Either Palestine or Kashmir, voices for self -determination can be silenced through dialogue, but not through strength and violence,” concluded the minister.
