The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified the procedure for including the designation “Resident of AJK State” in Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC), refuting rumors of a policy change, they reported on Monday. local media sources.

In a statement, NADRA said the designation is printed in black on smart CNICs and in red on regular CNICs. Applicants must submit a valid State Subject Certificate issued by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government to qualify for this stamp.

“Rumors of changes to this policy circulating on social media are baseless and spread with ulterior motives,” NADRA said, adding that between December 2024 and January 2025, more than 50,000 CNICs were issued with the designation of “Resident.” of AJK state.”

The authority explained that some omissions were due to applicants not submitting the required State Subject Certificate or due to data entry errors during processing.

NADRA has proactively contacted the affected individuals and arranged for free re-issuance of the corrected CNICs.

Applicants who did not initially provide the certificate are urged to reapply with the necessary documents and pay the required fees.

NADRA launches cycle service to facilitate citizens of Karachi

Officials stated that initially, three riders will operate in Karachi, while Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas will each have one bike for service. Ten additional bikes will be added to NADRA’s fleet of motorcyclists in the coming days.

Regarding the service, officials explained that representatives will be equipped with backpacks containing the required processing equipment. Citizens opting for home delivery service will be charged an additional fee of Rs 1,000, which includes Rs 825 for the service and Rs 175 as delivery charges.

Previously, NADRA decided to close its website and launch a mobile app instead.

Federal Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced during a workshop that NADRA’s Pak ID website will be closed and all services will be provided through the mobile application. Fraudulent elements helped create fake identification documents through fake websites, obtain personal information of citizens and attempt to misuse it.

A few weeks ago, 4-hour passport counters were set up at NADRA Mega Centers across the country.

Pursuant to the orders of Federal Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Passport Department has established 10 passport processing counters at NADRA Mega Centers in Nazimabad and Karachi site areas, specifically at Siemens Chowrangi. Citizens can now use the services at these counters 24 hours a day.
