The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced an improved version of the national identity card that is not of chip, which offers better safety, accessibility and affordability.

The update aims to provide citizens with digital characteristics, which were previously limited to chips -based identity cards, while maintaining a lower cost than intelligent NICs.

Other updates include:

Bilingual information: The details on the card are provided in both English and URDU to obtain coherence with passports and official documents.

INTEGRATION OF THE QR Code: The card includes a QR code, which allows users to access their digital identity through the Pak ID mobile application.

In comparison, a CNIC based on chips contains relevant data of the owner, while it could be used for several purposes, without internet connection.

Special benefits for organ donors: Registered organ donors will have a unique symbol on their card and enjoy validity for life.

Exclusive characteristics for people with disabilities: Cards for people with disabilities include different markers and validity for life.

The new card is available for renewal, data modification or replacement in case of loss.

The price of the updated ID non -chip is as follows:

Normal: RS400 (31 -day delivery)

Urgent: RS1,150 (15 -day delivery)

Executive: RS2,150 (9 -day delivery)

Applicants for the first time of 18 years: free (normal category)

Separately, Nadra also reviewed the structure of intelligent CNIC rates by 2025. The new smart CNICs now cost RS750 for normality, RS1,500 for urgent and RS2,500 for executive processing.

These updates are part of Nadra’s continuous efforts to modernize national identification systems and support digital governance in Pakistan.
