Final Fantasy 14 The legendary director and producer Naoki Yoshida has discussed his role in the game in a new interview.
Perhaps better known as Yoshi-P, Yoshida acknowledges that while working on other projects within Square Enix, he is still planning to continue working in the long MMORPG duration “for at least a good time.”
In statements to Pixel Ridoso in Pax West, Yoshida had the following to say about his time working in the game:
“People tend to say that we are creators or creative, but I am an employee of Square Enix and I receive money to make games, and I think that my main purpose is to make games to give it to the players, fans, players who wish to consume our product.”
“I think it is fundamental or a minimum requirement that I have because I belong to this company,” he added, describing himself as “more a businessman” than one of the creatives behind Final Fantasy 14.
Yoshida explained that he cannot get bored of working on the project because there is still more to add to the game, which was launched in 2010, but was relaunched under his guide in 2013.
“I don’t believe it, because there are many things that I still have to update in 14, things I want to do, things I must do, things that must be treated,” he said.
“And so I think that for at least a good time, it should be fine,” he added, while he joked that he wants to do less in the form of “management or operational things” and help more with the design of the game.
Yoshida has recently worked on Fantasian: neo dimensionBut he was a producer in Final Fantasy XVIwhich was launched in 2023. Final Fantasy 14The most recent expansion, Dawntrailreleased in August last year.
