Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has acknowledged that Pakistani face difficulties in obtaining visas for the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Oman, but assured that the problems would be solved soon.
“The rejection of Visas of the EAU has become an important problem. I am meeting with the Interior Minister of the EAU on July 9, and I hope we find a solution to this,” Naqvi said while we headed to a meeting in the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday.
He also highlighted government efforts to improve the global classification of the green passport and expressed his optimism that the country’s passport classification would soon see a significant increase. “We are proud of our green passport, and in the future, it will be an even greater source of pride,” he said.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of Karachi’s well -being for the general progress of the country, stating: “If Karachi is healthy, Pakistan will be healthy.” He promised that the federal government would do everything possible to address the growing challenges of the city, especially crime and smuggling.
He also revealed that the discussions are underway with Nadra to integrate the criminal records into the national identification cards of citizens. “The Safe City project is expected to significantly reduce crime rates, after the success of similar initiatives,” he added.
The minister addressed the issue of smuggling, recognizing that although he has not been completely eradicated, Pakistan had only six coastal guard boats to patrol his coast of 1,002 kilometers. However, two additional ships have been added, and a greater strengthening of the Coast Guard is planned.
He also admitted that the Government had not done sufficient planning for the water supply in the main cities, but expressed hope of positive progress in the future.
Naqvi emphasized that peaceful labor attacks are a fundamental right, but the main objective of the government is to boost the national economy, which is currently a priority.
Naqvi appreciated even more than the ten initial days of Muharram passed peacefully throughout the country, thanks to the crucial role played by all provinces. “The Government maintained close coordination with the provincial authorities, minimizing the interruptions of mobile networks and providing relief to citizens,” he said.
In conclusion, he assured that the government would take energetic measures against the dollar trade of the black market, with the aim of stabilizing the currency and improving the economy.
