Islamabad:
The spokesman of the National Assembly Secretariat clarified on Thursday that neither the president’s office nor the Secretariat of the National Assembly had any role in the speaker’s salary increase.
To a measure that has raised its eyebrows, the government had approved more than five times the increase in the salaries of the president of the Senate and the president of the National Assembly, taking to RS1.3 million per month.
According to a notification dated May 29, the president of the Senate and the salaries of the NA speakers have risen from RS205,000 to RS1.3M, in addition to 50 percent of the reviewed salary (RS650,000) as the sumptuous assignment.
The walk, with retrospective effect, has become in force in January 2025.
When heading to the matter, the spokesman said that the summary of the salary walk was prepared by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
The summary was sent by the Ministry and approved by the Federal Cabinet.
