Austin Hill collected his second victory of the 2025 season of the Nascar Xfinity series on Saturday night at Martinsville Speedway, but arrived with some controversy at the end.
The race was on extra time and with two laps for the end, Sammy Smith jumped in front and was fighting Brandon Jones and Taylor Gray for first place. Hill was out of the first five. While the drivers were heading towards the rear route, a few cars got into the wall, but no yellow flag was stirred.

Gray took the lead when he entered the final turn, but had Justin Allgaier in his bumper. It seemed that the race was going to go down to Gray, Smith and Allgaier, but in the final turn the driving became more aggressive.
Smith crashed into Gray’s back in the final turn and moved it along the track and out of the first place. Jones then got into the back of Gray and Allgaier tried to raise the track to first. But his cars also slid down the track and it was Hill who slipped inside with a small thrust of Sheldon Creed to collect victory.
A mass shipwreck occurred when the cars crossed the end of starting line.
No one seemed to be satisfied with how the race ended. The Nascar Cup series, Denny Hamlin, let her thoughts be known with hours to go before her career in Martinsville began.

“Absolute garbage,” he wrote in X. “God, I would like to be in the stand. They say goodbye, but I am sure I would call these idiots.”
Gray told CW Sports that he felt he had “the best car of all day.”
“It is unfortunate. It is the same story that I have lived here for two years, for two Martinsville (races) in a row,” he said. “Apest, but it is what it is.”
Atlético captured a confrontation between Smith and Gray outside the center’s care center. Harrison Burton also faced Smith.
Smith talked about the final laps with journalists.
“I know that everyone will get angry and get angry with me and say that I am a dirty driver, but I don’t care because everyone does it,” he said, through Fox Sports. “And if I was going to accept it and ended second today, then that was not going to sit well.”
