Alijah Arenas, the five -star recruit and son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, is “resting comfortably” at home after a car accident left him in a medically induced coma.
“The Government and Arenas’ family are preparing for the way ahead with faith and determination, committed to nurturing Alijah 100%.

Arenas, a USC commitment, was traveling in his Tesla Cybertruck shortly before 5 o’clock on Thursday in Los Angeles when the accident occurred, according to the reports.
The family of Arenas shared a statement from one of the people who helped him out of the car after the accident.
“I remember having heard the car window hit, but I couldn’t see anything because the smoke was very thick,” said the person, through TMZ Sports.
“That’s when I realized that someone was inside. I tried to break the window, but I didn’t give. Then I saw that one of the windows was broken enough, and we used everything we had to bend and take it out. The car was in flames. We knew we had to take it out.”

Arenas was placed in a coma due to the ingestion of high levels of carbon dioxide.
In December 2024, Arenas was one of the best classified shot guards in class 2026. He recently asked to be reclassified as a last year student to allow him to graduate from high school in 2025.
Gilbert played in the NBA for 12 seasons. It was three times all-stop and spent eight seasons with the Washington Wizardstwo with the Golden State Warriors and one season each with Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies. Now organizes the “Gil’s Arena” podcast focused on basketball. “

Alijah also received offers from Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisville and averaged more than 30 points per game last season with Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles. His father attended Arizona.
