The New York Knicks are taking over the streets of New York City, literally.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on Wednesday that some city streets will be coded as Knicks players in a press release.

The name change of the streets was ahead of game 1 of the ESE conference finals between the Knicks and Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

The Knicks surprised the Boston Celtics and defeated the queen champions in six games and advanced to their first conference final in 25 years.

“The Knicks embody the spirit of New York: resistant, passionate and unstoppable,” Adams said in a statement.

“On the way to a championship, we recognize the arduous work and determination that has led this team to the Eastern Conference and we are celebrating this team temporarily co-naming the streets of our city so that all New Yorkers can celebrate their pride of Knicks. Almost 8.5 million New York, and millions more, are behind the Knicks of New York as they continue this incredible trip.”

The streets will be coded while the Knicks are still in playoff hunting. Each sign is blue and orange and presents the name of the player and the jersey number.

Last season, the Pacers eliminated a team from the Knicks that was decimated by injuries in seven games in the semifinals of the East Conference.
