NBA News: Steve Kerr de Warriors says that more travel violations should be called

The chief coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, is asking the NBA officials to whistle trips, one of the most basic rules of rules in basketball, more frequently.

Kerr, 59, a technical foul was evaluated during the third quarter of the Warriors 119-101 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday after what he thought it was an obvious trip it was not called.

“I don’t understand why we are not teaching our officials to call traveling in this league,” Kerr told journalists after the game. “They do a great job and work and communicate well, but I see five or six trips per game that is not called.

“You know it is a problem when there is a hundred fans in the stands and each coach in the bank when I am watching movies and they are all (pointing to a travel call). They are all watching it, so we are clearly not teaching our officials to look at our feet.”

Kerr called his own team, saying that he saw the Warriors commit four travel violations that were not called in his defeat against the Filadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

Kerr said that a change regarding travel violations must occur “for the good of the game.”

“The whole game is based on the foot game,” Kerr said. “We need to enforce travel violations, and we are not doing it. And I don’t understand why … these (officials) are incredible. They do a great job and have a million things to see, but the foot game is the entire base of the game, and we need to call to travel. It will be a much better game if we clean it.”

The Warriors play the New York Knicks on Tuesday at 7:30 pm et, and Kerr will probably monitor travel calls.
