Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green got into a face-to-face confrontation with a New Orleans Pelicans fan Sunday night during the team’s 124-106 victory.
The incident occurred in New Orleans with about 2 minutes left in halftime. The fan, identified as Sam Green, was standing and cheering after Green was called for a foul on Pelicans forward Herb Jones.

The NBA player, instead of preparing for the free throws, approached the sideline and stood in front of the fan. The man stood up and spread his arms to his sides as the two chatted. Officials stood between the two and cooler heads prevailed.
Sam Green told The Associated Press that he was taunting the NBA champion with “Angel Reese” chants because the Warriors player hadn’t taken a shot while grabbing seven rebounds. The Chicago Sky star had been criticized for inflating his rebounding numbers because he was making his own mistakes. But Reese turned the snub into profits when he trademarked “MeBounds” during his second year in the league.
The fan said the Warriors player yelled profanities at him and threatened to hit him if the “Angel Reese” chants continued.

“I wasn’t using profanity and for him to walk 12 feet off the court to come and confront me like that, it was a little disconcerting,” Sam Green told the outlet.
Green said after the game that he was upset with the fan for the chanting.
“He kept calling me a woman,” she said via ESPN. “It was a joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman.”
It’s unclear if Green will be fined for the interaction. The fan was only given a warning and allowed to remain in his courtside seat. The Warriors player was fined $25,000 in 2022 for what the NBA described as “directing obscene language toward a fan.”
