Ncuti Gatwa was left “burned” by Doctor Who.
The 32 -year -old actor has left the popular program after only two seasons portraying the 15th doctor and explained that he “fought” when making the decision to leave because he “loved” the program, but felt that he needed to take a free time.
“I was tired and burned at the end of series Dos. It was exhausting. But it was a magical, magical moment,” he said Telegraph magazine.
He continued: “There was never an opportunity to recover energy: it’s just going, going, going. I was making weeks of seven days for eight months and it seemed difficult for me to be away from home and family.”
“I had already been filming in Cardiff for five years (occasionally) before that with sex education, and we began to shoot Dr. Who Who while I was still doing the fourth season of Sex ed,” he added.
“I had to fight myself, I fell in love with that program. I will miss him, but I was ready to move on,” Ncuti admitted.
Speaking of how it usually overloads with work, he mentioned: “Because I’m hungry! But I love everything I do, and you don’t want to stop doing the things you enjoy.”
His busy schedule also led the Roses actor to retire from Eurovision earlier this year, with Sophie Ellis-Bextor entering his place.
“I retired because I was too busy. I had many things on my dish. It wasn’t something last minute: I took weeks in advance and I don’t know why it was announced when it was. They told me they needed to find a replacement before they announced it,” said Ncuti Gatwa.
