The National Emergency Operation Center of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) (NEOC) has issued warnings of urgent floods as the Mangla and Chenab regions of Punjab prepare for the increase in water levels, after the arrival of a new wave of the west.

The rains are expected to intensify in superior and central Pakistan until August 10, increasing river flows and flood risks.

The authorities warned that the jhelum river, particularly upstream of mangla, reaches the high flood levels, while the Chenab River in Marala, Khanki and Qadirabad can arise in medium -to -high flood stages.

Meanwhile, River Kabul is expected to register low flood levels, and tributaries such as Swat and Panjkora Rivers and Nullahs can rise to medium flows due to sustained rains.

Although Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa and Guddu Barrages are currently at low flood levels, Neoc warned that increasing entries could raise them to a medium flood stage.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, the Hunza and Shigar rivers, including tributaries such as Hispar, ShimShal and Saltoro, are prone to sudden floods; The districts of Baluchistan such as Musakhel, Sherani, Zhob and Sibi can also see stuffed streams of basins.

Currently, the Tarbela dam has 73% of its capacity, and the mangla dam is 43%, with expected increases in storage due to incoming rain.

Neoc strongly advises people who live near rivers and streams prone to floods that remain alert due to sudden overtheions of water level, especially during the night or during heavy breasts, and prepare emergency plans.

Residents are urged to pack kits with essential supplies, moving cattle and vehicles to a higher land, and avoiding crossing roads or flooded roads, since only six inches of water that moves quickly is enough to tear down an adult, and a water foot can carry vehicles.
