NDMA gives alarm about Swat River arises

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a high flood alert for the Swat River on Friday, after water discharge in Munda Headworks increased to 101,205 Cusec.

The authority placed the river in the category of “high flood”, which led the authorities to maintain greater surveillance in the northern belt.

According to the NDMA, the rapid increase in water levels has required urgent caution measures, with residents in vulnerable areas that are strongly advised to prepare for possible evacuation.

The Provincial Disaster Authority (PDMA) of Punjab warned about low -to -medium flood floods in several barriers in the province, urging people who live within the beds of the rivers to move to a safer land without delay as a preventive step.

A PDMA spokesman said that the Indo River is experiencing a medium level flood in Chashma Barge, while low -level flood conditions persist in Tarbela, Kalabagh and Taunsa.

In the Chenab River, the flow has backed away in Marala Barge, but is rising in the head Khanki, where low level floods continues.

Water levels are also increasing in the Sutlej River in Ganda Singh Wala (Kasur), with a discharge of 64,000 Cusecs that results in low -level flood conditions.

According to officials, the protective embankment on the site has been affected by the increase, clarifying that it is only a temporary structure built to tame the flow.

Similarly, low -level floods continue in Bein Nullah of the Ravi River in Shakargarh, although the flow remains stable. A flow has not been informed in the main torrents of the Colina of the Ghazi Khan division.

The Tarbela dam is full of 96% and the mangla dam has reached 67% capacity, with water levels registered in 1,546.50 feet and 1,209.35 feet, respectively.

The DG PDMA urged the public to take all the necessary precautions, emphasizing that people residing within river beds must immediately move to safe places and cooperate with the authorities in case of emergency evacuations.
