The National Authority for Disaster Management (NDMA) has issued an alert nationwide that urges citizens to take caution measures as a moderate to strong rain is forecast in most parts of the country for the next three days.
According to the National Center for Emergency Operations (NEOC), operating under the NDMA, a three -day climate impact perspective has been published, predicting a generalized rain fed by humidity entries from the Arabian sea and Bengala’s bay.
The prognosis raises sudden flood concerns, particularly in areas located near Nullahs and local currents.
Substantial increases are anticipated in rivers flows in the main rivers, including Indo, Kabul, Jhelum (upstream of mangla) and Chenab.
They currently experience key barriers such as Tarbela, Guddu, Kalabagh and Chashma.
Meanwhile, it is projected that water levels in Taunsa bombardment will rise to flood medium levels during the wet spell in progress.
The NDMA also warned about the greatest risk of sudden floods in the torrents of Hill de Dera Ghazi Khan and several districts of Baluchistan, including Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Sibi, Lorealai, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran and Panjgur.
Additional vulnerable areas include Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat and Shangla.
Residents are advised in mountainous regions such as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat and Gilgit-Baltist who remain alert for possible land and landslides, which could obstruct roads and interrupt traffic, according to the National Climate Prognosis Center.
