ISLAMABAD:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has initiated the formal process to introduce new solar net metering regulations by scheduling a public hearing on the draft Prosumer Regulation 2025, inviting stakeholders and the general public to present their views.
The authority set the hearing request and decided to hold a public consultation on the proposed regulation, which aims to regulate consumers who produce and consume electricity through solar systems.
The public hearing will be held on February 6 and NEPRA has invited all stakeholders and citizens to submit their views.
A copy of the draft Prosumer Regulation 2025 is available on NEPRA’s official website for public review.
NEPRA also held a public hearing on an application filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Thursday. The CPPA told NEPRA that national electricity consumption increased by 22 percent compared to the same period last year, mainly due to higher demand from the industrial and agricultural sectors.
