Neptor cuts the basic power rate by RS1.15/unit

The National Regulatory Authority of Electric Power (NEPRA) has decided to reduce the energy rate in RS1.15 per unit, offering great relief to consumers, using 100 to 500 units per month, according to a notification sent to the Government for the approval and final implementation.

Nepra has issued its decision to reduce the basic price of electricity throughout the country. According to the decision, the maximum rate for national consumers will be 47.69 per unit. However, the rate for national consumers of Lifeline, which uses up to 50 units per month, has remained at RS3.95 per unit.

According to the Nepra notification, the Lifeline consumers rate, which uses 51 to 100 units per month, is RS7.74.

A RS10.54 rate per unit for national consumers who use 1-100 units and RS13.01 for protected national consumers, using 101-200 units has been approved.

For unpotected national consumers, Nepra set the rate at RS22.44 for 1-100 units per month of category; RS28.91 for 101-200 units; RS33.10 for 201-300 units; RS37.99 for 301-400 units; RS40.20 for 401-500 units; RS41.62 for 501-600 units; RS42.76 for units 601-700 and RS47.69 for units more than 700.

According to the officials, Nepera has sent its recommendations to the Federal Government for the implementation of the new rates. After the approval of the recommendations of Nepra, the Government would announce the reduction of the power rate, they added.
