Dan Brown’s legendary symbologist/action hero has a new home in Netflix, with the streamer ready to adapt the next new book by Robert Langdon by the author, THE SECRET OF THE SECRETS.
The adaptation has been co-created by Brown with the first Lost Producer Carlton Cuse, who will also serve as showrunner, and marks the fifth live appearance of Langdon after three great success and a somewhat forgotten Peacock show.
The franchise began with The Da Vinci Code In 2006, after the 2003 original novel became a worldwide success, he sold more than 80 million copies and became the best -selling American novel of all time.
The film adaptation was directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks such as Langdon, along with Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Jean Reno and Paul Bettany.
Despite mixed criticism, the film was a success among the public, generating $ 760 million worldwide and becoming the second most recaller film of the year (after later Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man chestIf you are interested).
Two sequelae followed, with Angels and demons – Based on the first book of the franchise, arriving in 2009, and the late Hellbased on the fourth novel, Arrival screens in 2016.
Howard returned to direct both deliveries, but the bad reception and disappointing box office results saw the cinematographic aspirations for the franchise on the Hanks trilogy.
Langdon returned, however, in the form of a real turkey The lost symbol In 2021. The program reinvented the novel of origin as a kind of prequel, launching Ashley Zukerman (Succession, Fear Street) As a young Robert Langdon, hired by the CIA to solve a series of puzzles linked to the disappearance of his mentor Peter Solomon (Eddie Izzard). However, the program found a bad critical response, and Dwindling Audiences saw Peacock cancel the series after just one season.
But there seems to be life in the franchise, with one of the best transmission services that will skip the book five of the series, OriginAnd instead, deliver a large budget adaptation of the next sixth delivery, THE SECRET OF THE SECRETS.
What can we expect from the secret of secrets?
While Peacock’s iteration served as quasi preliminary to films, Netflix seems to completely restart the franchise, without Hanks or Zukerman to repeat his role today (and it is incredibly unlikely that he changes), and without Howard’s participation.
The novel does not land until September, so there is not a lot about what we can expect from the new series, but Netflix has caused: “In the next novel, Langdon, an estimated symbologist, competes against ancient forces and the time to rescue a missing scientist, whose innovative manuscript contains discoveries that have the power to change forever the understanding of humanity. If Langdon’s previous adventures are something to happen, we would expect a search for the global treasure, critical and terrifying heavy terrifying wrapped in a race against time with a final act that will turn the head.
