Network base suffers the first time of inactivity from the debut, stops operations for 29 minutes

Base, the scale product of Coinbase Ethereum layer (COIN), stops for the first time since its 2023 debut, disabled critical functions that include block production, deposits, withdrawals and flash block operations for 29 minutes before the service resumes.

The incident occurred at 06:15 UTC as a result of an “insecure head of the head”, according to the status page of the base incident. That is a technical failure that interrupts the ability of the network to confirm and produce blocks.

The team responded at 6:43 UTC that was investigating the arrest, and only a minute later informed that the problem had been identified and resolved, with the monitoring established to ensure that no more complications arise.

Although brief, the interruption is significant given the previous registration of the uninterrupted activity time base and its growing role in the Ethereum Layer-2 ecosystem. Since its introduction, the base has accumulated $ 4.2 billion in total locked value (TVL). According to Defillama data, a substantial part of this, about $ 1.5 billion, is linked to the Morpho loan protocol.
