Sindh, Sindh, has announced a meaning of gas discovery in the Soho-1 exploratory well in the Sujawal block, Sindh, previously known as Mari Petroleum.
As the only operator with 100% labor interest in the block, Mari Energies confirmed that the well produced 30.01 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas with a strangulator size of 64/64 “with a 1,482.5 PSI well pressure pressure, Express News reported Friday.
With a 32/64 strangulator, good flowed 18.84 MMSCFD at a higher pressure of 3,447.8 psi.
The company pointed out that this marks the first successful gas discovery in the formation of Goru Lower within the Sujawal block, an area previously considered unproductive.
Additional tests are being carried out in additional formations to evaluate the entire potential of the finding.
Previously, Pakistan discovered a second important oil and gas reserve in the Waziristan block, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which marked a key development in the country’s energy sector.
According to MPCL, the WAM-1 turn well is producing approximately 20,485 million cubic feet of gas per day and 117 barrels of light crude oil, with a well-headed pressure of 3,431 psi.
MPCL has a 55% participation in the block, while OGDCL has 35% and Orient Petroleum has 10%.
Energy experts believe that this area has a strong potential for future discoveries, offering hope for greater energy security and a reduced dependence on imports.
