The Democratic candidate for the New Jersey governor, Mikie Sherrill, has not addressed his congress voting history on projects related to transgender athletes in women’s sports.
President Donald Trump called Sherrill for his position on the subject in a real social position on Thursday.
“Sherrill wants open borders (again!), Men who play in women’s sports, transgender for all and all things that almost destroyed the United States,” Trump wrote.

Pak Gazette Digital has communicated with the Sherrill campaign several times to clarify its position on the issue of Trans athletes in women’s sports, but has not received an answer.
Sherrill has been criticized on social networks for his Congress Voting Registry on the subject. He voted against the protection of women and girls in sports law, twice, when the bill was first proposed in 2023, and again last February when he reintroduced.
Sherrill has also co -crocked the Equality Law, but also co -democinated the declaration of transgender rights, which more explicitly “guarantees certain rights for transgender and non -binary persons with respect to public services and accommodation.”
Sherrill is a self -proclaimed “defender of female athletics.” He previously proposed the Women’s Sports Law in the NCAA in the United States Representatives House together with the representative Maria Salazar D-Fla, and directed a resolution to honor Billie Jean King with the Gold Medal of Congress.
However, he has recently been criticized on social networks for his Congress voting record on the subject of Trans athletes in women’s sports.
The former female swimmer of the University of Pennsylvania and women’s sports activist, Paula Scanlan, Upenn’s first swimmer to talk about the controversy of Lia Thomas of the school in 2022, called Sherrill in X on the subject this week.
The New Jersey Republican Party attacked Sherrill for this album directly in a campaign chart last week.
Sherrill’s opponent, Republican Jack Ciattarelli, mentioned this topic for Sherrill in a position in July.
New Jersey is the original native state of the well -known Transgender Athletics Athlete Sadie Schreiner, who previously competed for the Rochester Institute of Technology and went viral several times for publishing videos that share the first -hand experience of the athlete as a biological trans athlete trans competition against and, often dominant, women. Schreiner is from Hillsborough, according to the athlete athlete athlete.
Schreiner has filed a lawsuit against Princeton University for an alleged incident in a women’s career on May 3. Schreiner’s demand said the athlete tried to participate in the 200 -female sprint in the Invitational Larry Ellis as one of the 141 non -united participants a university or club. The demand claims that the officials told Schreiner that the athlete could not participate 15 minutes before the race began.
Schreiner claimed that the University violated New Jersey law against discrimination, which designates “gender identity or expression” as a protected state.
Since then, Schreiner has filed a second lawsuit against Suny Genesco for being expelled from a female career in March, according to multiple reports.
Within the transgender volleyball crisis of Gavin Newsom
In January, a New York Times/Ipsos Survey He discovered that the vast majority of Americans, including most Democrats, do not believe that transgender athletes are allowed to compete in women’s sports. Of the 2,128 people who participated, 79% said that biological men who identify as women should not be allowed to participate in women’s sports.
Of the 1,025 people who identified themselves as Democrats or inclined Democrats, 67% said that transgender athletes should not be able to compete with women. Between 1,022 Republicans, that number was 94%.
The 81 independents who were interviewed represented the group with the greatest reluctance to say that transgender athletes should not be able to compete. Only 64% said they were against, while 26% refused to respond. Only 3% of the Democrats and 1% of the Republicans refused to respond.
Almost 70% of Americans say that biological men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports, according to a Gallup poll last year.
Additional data suggest that the problem hit the 2024 elections.
TO national output survey Directed by the Committee for Legislative Action for Women for America (CWA) in question, it found that 70% of moderate voters saw the issue of “Donald Trump’s opposition to transgender children and men who interpret sports of girls and women and transgender boys and men who used baths of girls and women” as is important for them. And 6% said it was the most important issue of all, while 44% said it was “very important.”
Meanwhile, prominent democratic figures have retreated in the support of their party to men in women’s sports, including Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom and even Kamala Harris.
In his recent book “107 days”, Harris wrote that “he agrees” with the concerns of parents and athletes who oppose leaving Men compete with females.
“I agree with the concerns expressed by parents and players that we have to take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and athletic advantage of unfair students when we determine who plays in which teams, especially in contact sports,” Harris wrote.
