Jersey City, NJ – On Wednesday marks exactly one year until the FIFA 2026 World Cup begins in North America, and the party began in the state where the final will be played.
It is the first time since 1994 that the continent is the host of the most popular sporting event, and the New Jersey of Phil Murphy will be the site of the final.
The Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford will organize eight games in total, including five in the group stage and games both in the rounds of 32 and 16.

When talking with the media on Wednesday at the Liberty State Park in Jersey City, the location of the Official World Cup Fan Festival 2026, Murphy predicted that the final in the house of the Giants and Jets of New York will be “the best selling event in human history.”
And for attendees, “Metlife’s experience will be outstanding,” Murphy said.
