A new investment vehicle, the KvarnPortugal fund, is ready to allow investors a way to obtain exposure to the cryptocurrency sector and at the same time present a potential route to the Portuguese residence or citizenship.
The fund is the result of an association between Fundbox, a Portuguese fund management company, and Kvarn X, a European cryptocurrency investment platform.
The fund subscription period ends in February 2027, according to its website, and has an administration rate of 0.05%, together with a single subscription rate of 2.5%. In addition to these, investors also have to cover a rate of € 1,250 ($ 1289) known to their client (KYC).
The fund has an 8/20 gains participation. For investors that are not after the Portuguese residence, the minimum investment is € 100,000.
The fund is established to assign 80% of its portfolio to Bitcoin (BTC), and the remaining 20% to the Coindesk 20 index, which offers exposure to a wide range of cryptocurrencies of great capitalization.
KvarnPortugal Alinea “Financial opportunities with the usefulness of the real world” by integrating the index into a fund that facilitates the investment residence, said Alan Campbell, president of the Coendesk indices. The Coendesk 20 index, he added, was “designed to serve as the most liquid reference point in the industry.”
To use the fund to obtain the residence in Portugal through the country’s gold visa program, investors would have to commit a minimum of € 500,000 and spend at least 35 days in the country for five years. The investment must be made through a Portuguese bank account to qualify, according to the website of the Fund.
