New Poly Case confirmed in Hyderabad, Nationwide Tally reaches 27

The National Center for Emergency Operations (NEOC) has confirmed a new case of polio in the Hyderabad district of Sindh, which carries the total number of cases of polyomyelitis informed throughout Pakistan to 27 in 2025. According to the NEOC, Sindh has reported seven cases so far this year, highlighting the continuous challenges to eradicate the letr virus of the province.

“Poly is an incurable disease that can cause disability for life,” said the Neoc in a statement, urging parents to make sure their children receive drops of polyomyelitis during each vaccination campaign.

The next national vaccination campaign of polyomyelitis will take place from October 13 to 19, during which more than 400,000 polio workers will go to door to door to administer drops of oral polyomyelitis vaccines to children under five years.

The NEOC emphasized that the support of parents, communities, teachers, religious leaders and the media is crucial for the success of the polio eradication campaign.

Despite significant progress in recent years, Pakistan is still one of the few countries in the world where polio is still paralyzing children, and health authorities warn that continuous surveillance and public cooperation are essential to stop transmission.
