Newborn found alive in plastic bags in a construction site in Lahore

A newborn baby was discovered alive inside a plastic bag in a construction house in the Lahore Gajumata area, which caused a rapid action of rescue equipment and authorities.

According to rescue officials 1122, a call of anguish reported the presence of an abandoned baby near Lda Road, said Express News.

Upon arrival, the responders found the baby wrapped inside a plastic bag. Despite the circumstances, the girl was alive and immediately transported to the children’s hospital for evaluation and medical care.

After the incident, Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz realized and ordered the child protection office to take the baby’s custody.

President Sarah Ahmed confirmed that the office team was sent to the hospital to guarantee the baby’s proper attention.

“The child will receive the best possible attention and nutrition under office protection,” said Ahmed, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguard vulnerable children.

The authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the baby ended in the site and track any individual involved in the abandonment of the newborn.

On the other hand, an advisor to the main minister of KP on Health, Ihtesham Khan, Chief of the Uncef field, Rzehakk and the UNICEF health team for KP, Dr. Inamullah Khan inaugurated a newborn care unit patients at the Abbottabad Women and Children Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Advisor highlighted the importance of the care of quality newborns to address high mortality by newborns in the province.

He thanked UNICEF for supporting the newborn attention agenda, adding that taking the UNICEF model, KP Govt, plans to establish quality care units of quality in each district level hospital.

Radoslaw Rzehak said UNICEF is supporting the government in health and nutrition, as well as in education. He assured continuous support. Dr. Inamullah said that this is an avant -garde unit that has the ability to provide quality newborn care services to the contiguous districts of Abbottabad as well.
