“No game for anyone’s approval,” Fields explained. “You will all have your opinion and I will never take anything personal. As I said, it doesn’t matter. Everyone can have an opinion, you can say this and that, but at the end of the day our lives will not change. If I tell you something right now, the same will happen.

“It really does not affect life, it does not really affect the way we live. Then, if you look at it from that perspective, the greatest perspective, regardless of what someone says, it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. It has zero meaning for me, anyone. God controls everything that happens in this world. Just let people be and let them talk.”

Fields said he collected the mentality in the last six months. He joined the jets in free agency after a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and several with the Chicago Bears.

He said that approaching “more to God” was an important reason why his approach changed.

“My relationship, reading the Bible every day,” he said. “If I am being real, there are some excellent lines and a great wisdom that I didn’t even know. I am more discreet to enter my Bible every day because I learn something new every day and I can apply it to my daily life.

“I was sleeping when reading the Bible previously in my life. I would like to have started before. So, I encourage them to read a little. They begin in proverbs and advance from there.”
